• My work as a data collector started when I was posted to an institution with acronym NAWABIN by the National Service Secretariat to render service to my beloved nation. NAWABIN is a waste management institution that in collaboration with the local government and SUBA went into nationwide data collection drive to capture data on residential buildings, and institutional buildings like religious bodies, schools, factories, health centers etc. As part of the preparation towards the project we were given one(1) week training, which includes how to use GPS device, data gathering, time management, and how to relate to work colleagues, and the general public (potential clients). It was an interesting experience and also served as an eye opener as it has given me clear understanding and importance of Data in nation building. Indeed, it really made me have first-hand experience to how badly some towns and villages are in need of basic housing infrastructure and related social amenities, and how important it is for local government to take its town and country planning and development serious.
